My wife and I went here for the first time on Valentine's Day. It was a set menu that had particularly appealed to us as I am a vegetarian. There was only one vegetarian choice per course, however these were excellent. My starter of creamy mushrooms on focaccia with tallegio was superb. My main was a vegetable wellington - I really like that the chefs at Mad Jacks have clearly put effort into providing an interesting vegetarian selection instead of the usual risotto, and again my main was excellent. My wife enjoyed both her courses, both of which were fish. Dessert was treacle tart with vanilla ice cream - it was excellent. The wine we chose was a pinotage, I think Chilean. It was good but not great. The service was mostly good - our main waiter was great, friendly and conversational but not too much so. A couple of other, younger, waiters weren't so good (dropping cutlery, dashing ahead of guests to get to the kitchen, etc) but still good. Overall, we were very impressed by Mad Jacks and would definitely return - the food, service and atmosphere was all high quality.

Popped into Mad jacks for an early dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Food, atmosphere, service and pricing were all spot on. Had several of the special cocktails pre dinner (highly recommended!) Menu was varied and inspired and the staff attentive. Will return at the earliest opportunity.
(and i've noticed they have opened a deli across the street which will need some investigating)

Another visit to Mad Jack's, this time for lunch, was good. Three of us sat down and were quickly served our drinks and the orders were taken. It was very busy but the front of house staff seemed to be coping well. The kitchen may have been overwhelmed because a number of lunchers, ourselves included, seemed to wait for quite a while for the food to appear. A piece of excellent chiabatta and butter kept our stomachs from rumbling until the tapas, risotto and club sandwich arrived. The food was good and there was plenty of opportunity to people-watch, both in the restaurant, on the street and also across the street, at Mad Jack's new deli which seemed to be busy. The bill was £30, which seemed reasonable for one of the best places to eat in Shrewsbury.

I read the past reviews before going to Mad jacks restaurant, and was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt as i had heard such great things from my friends and family who live in the area. I was not disappointed and had a really wonderful evening. The food was delicious, perfect combinations and everything was cooked just how i asked for it. All of the staff were very polite and smartly dressed and although being very busy, were still chatty and remembered the finest details. I will definitely be returning and already look forward to it.

Mad Jack’s is successor to a number of restaurants in these premises and this seems to be the most successful. Drinkers at the bar didn’t prevent swift service at 20:30 and we were promptly shown to our table (for eight).Menus were provided and we were immediately told that the fish stew had finished; nonetheless the selection was wide enough to ensure that there was something for everyone. Ribeye and fillet (£25) steaks were the principal choices which, with sea bass, were thought to be fine. Seafood linguini was pronounced as being disappointing and the pasta was not thought to be actually linguini! The fishcakes and calamari starters received a favourable reception. Puddings were slightly chaotic with one wrong one brought to the table.

Generally good and cheerful service, £40 per head. Not a place I’d go to frequently, but well- situated in Shrewsbury town centre. No parking.

Mad Jack’s is a sister establishment to the Mytton & Mermaid at Atcham

Went on Bank Holiday for an early lunch, food was great, although service waned a little as it got a little busier, but that's to be expected. Food was thoroughly enjoyable, we had sandwiches and desserts, all of which were great. Only trouble was that they mistakenly charged us for two glasses of champagne, which we only noticed later on as we had paid in a rush. However, the guy i called said he'd get someone to call back, and true to their word they did, and sorted everything out, making the customer service score rise again. Would definitely go back, has a lovely atmosphere for cocktails etc too in the evening.
