Been a few times now A1 service A1 food great place defiantly recommend A+++

I'd been looking to try this new restaurant for a while as the building had been transformed brilliantly. It is a great looking bar/restaurant inside. However, the food does not match the standard of the surroundings and it was fundamentally bad cooking that sealed it - for example I ordered a tomato and artichoke tartlet for my starter. When it arrived it was not a tartlet but a slice. It also contained virtually no tomato. But more worrying was it had virtually no taste. My main course was gnocchi in a blue cheese sauce. When it arrived I was excited as it had been cooked in a deep oven dish - I have not seen gnocchi served this way before. However, I immediately thought 'surely cooking it this way will overcook the gnocchi?'. And I was right - it was embarrassingly overcooked, almost like puree. My girlfriend's starter was a thai crab salad - she remarked that it was just crab and mayonnaise with no seasoning (she also said she would have been hard pushed to identify it as being thai). The meal was good value - 2 courses for £12 - but I suppose the ultimate indictment is that good value as it may be, we would not return to eat such average food. A chef that can't cook gnocchi - that is worrying!

took my wife out again for another romantic meal, but whats the deal here then, took 20 mins to get served, took another 20 mins to get menus, i hate to say it but we didnt eat in the end my wife was so annoyed we had to leave, sorry guys would have loved to have tasted the food but.......dreadful service alround, the wife wont be back to soon but i might come back to try the food......sorry

My friends and I had a night out on Friday and we decided to go to Morgans after several recommendations. We had a fabulous evening. The atmosphere was relaxing, the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. We had a main course and a pudding plus wine, and it was excellent value for money!

Lovely venue since it changed from the Exchange, but a real shame about the food which was dreadful for both my husband and myself. We decided to go based on the other reviews on this website, but it must have changed drastically since the last review. Also felt the meal was overpriced. On the upside the the woman in charge has lovely and welcoming.

To anybody who remembers 'The Exchange' which used to occupy this site, walking into Morgans will come as something of a shock, instead of a rather rough looking drinkers pub, this is now a modern cafe-bar restaurant serving some lovely food. We visited on a Sunday and the roast chicken from the sunday lunch menu was very good as was the steak sandwich. The tapas menu looked interesting and I now want to visit on another day so that I can try something from the regular menu which also looked very appetising.

My girlfriend and I went here for dinner last Friday (10th July), when we first walked in we were very impressed by the look and feel of the place, its recently been renovated and they have really done a great job.
We looked at the set menu for £13 for 3 courses, though I had been thinking about a T-Bone stake for weeks, so when I saw that on the menu, I decided I would just go for it, even though it was £17.50.
I always feel you can tell how good a restaurant is from its stake, as its simply how good a quality there meat is, and how well they cook it. Unfortunately im pretty much always disappointed when I go out for a meal, its normally not been very well cooked, usually over cooked or the meat is tough.
Here though, I think it was possibly THE BEST stake I have ever had!! Firstly, it was huge!! it was a 16 Oz T Bone, and it pretty much filled the plate, so all good so far, then I tasted it... it was perfectly cooked, I asked for medium, and it came just pink in the middle, perfectly cooked if you ask me!! It was so tender and melt in the mouth as well. Even the chips on the side were awesome!! it was just amazing!!!
The rest of the meal was fantastic as well, the pate starter was fantastic, and the profiteroles were very good, and the service was fast and friendly.
I just cant recommend this restaurant enough, I would recommend anyone after a great meal out in Shrewsbury to try it out, its not the cheapest, but its well worth it!!!

Well - we have just moved to Shrewsbury and have been trying town centre restaurants recently and we both agree that Morgans ticked ALL the boxes.......food, drink, staff, ambiance – it has it all going on – and we are hard to impress and please!
We went on Friday 10th July 2009 at about 7.30pm
I had Goats Cheese wrapped in Parma ham (£5.95) followed by Chicken breast with cuscus and salad (£12.50) and finished with a Rhubarb Crème Brulee (£4.95) – all really tasty.
We shared a bottle of their red wine – number 33 (£12.95) which was fine with the food
My partner had Bacon and Chicken Terrine, T bone steak and finished with the profiteroles – again – he said all that was delicious
We will be going back soon for sure !!

Excellent! LOVE IT!
