A lovely little treasure trove of East Asian food and other things.
From a huge range of delcious noodles, sauces, drinks and tea to sweets, biscuits, fortune cookies and weird and wonderful readymeals - this is truly an amazing shop!

They also sell chopsticks, fans, kimonos - anything you could ask for! It really is a gorgeous shop - almost addictive!

Even if you have no interest in East Asian culture or food whatsoever, you will love this shop - it really is an Aladdin's cave. I go there as often as I can.

Excellent choice of all kinds of Asian foods and cooking equipment and someone on the spot that can advise on substitute products if you have a problem with a recipe. Their goods are more authentic, better quality and a whole lot cheaper than the supermarket equivalents!! Highly recommended and an asset to the town.

This lady is really trying hard - this is an Aladdin's cave of foodie treasure. I hope her move to more out of the way premises proves a good one.

Setonakai has only got better since its move to bigger premises in the Parade Shopping Centre. Japanese foodstuffs are the speciality but Setonakai also stocks all manner of products from Morocco to Korea via the middle east, India, SE Asia and China. Everything the keen amateur cook with a taste for the unusual could want.

The prices are often a little more for the same products than in the Chinatown supermarkets of Manchester or Birmingham but it's well worth paying to support this great little business which is unique in the town.

Weird and wonderful Japanese sweets and biscuits, wabashi peas, and unlikely ready meals, too.

Setonaikai contains an Aladdin's cave of authentic ingredients from Japan and the Far East. They stock everything unusual and unpronounceable as well as delicious and delectable. Food products from Japan, Thailand, India, China, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Middle East, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan and Pakistan.

I make regular trips to stock up on the basic curry and chilli powders (which are much better value than from the supermarkets) as well as essentials for my sushi habit, like mirin, nori, shichimi togarishi and chopsticks. They also sell great Japanese sushi starter kits and beautiful china bowls. And while I have personally always been able to find what I was looking for (and more!), I am reliably informed that they will go out of their way to help you if there is something you cannot find. A great little shop. Opening hours: Wednesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m

An Aladdin's cave of food from the Far East. If you need anything Japanese, Chinese or otherwise Asian then Setonaikai will have it. The kind of shop you could spend a full morning browsing through.
