farm shop food

Buying your fruit and vegetables directly from the farm can sometimes be more expensive, sometimes cheaper. But it is always worth it for the extra flavour and freshness. The difference in taste between a carrot fresh from the ground, and a carrot that has been scrubed to within an inch of its life and kept in chilled storage for months is actually quite alarming.

The good thing about visiting a farm shop, or at least any farm shop worth its salt, is the produce you find will be in season and will therefore taste as it should. If you want to cut out the middle man and buy directly from the farmer, try some of the places on this page.
