My husband and I went here for lunch last week. It was a glorious day and we sat outside in the beer garden-spectacular view!
Our food was great. I have the steak and ale pie and the extra touch of putting my name in the pastry was a nice touch. Propbably the BEST chips I( have ever had-they wwere simply delicious.
I would recommend a visit-in fact, my husband went back with his father on the weekend for a drink simply because we enjoyed it so much.

The chickens and roosters running about in the beer garden are delightful as well.

My wife phoned today, this is how the conversation went.

Q:Can I ask if you cater for children?
A: yes, but we don't have a childrens menu.

Q: Thats ok, can I also ask if you could cater for my son who is a coleac, he can't eat gluten?
A: yes that's not a problem we can do gluten free.

Q: Oh thats great, could i book a table for this evening?
A: No!

long pause, my wife wondered if the owner was joking because of the pause.

Q: I'm sorry, did you say no?
A: No, we are fully booked but at least I answered your questions!

Owner puts down the phone.

This man does not derserve any success with the riverside!

very old fashioned service, plates, food ........
took my Gramps here for his birthday lunch and he seemed to think it was excellent - the others in our party under 80 years old didnt like it however!
shame because my mum and i used to go here for lunch and wine every weekend .....back in the day - no idea what current owners are doing with the place!

We ate here with friends on a Sunday lunch time. The restaurant was packed but we had booked ahead. I had a Sunday Roast so it was a bit difficult to judge the food. It was perfectly nice, perfectly enjoyable but I would need to go back and eat something else before I could tell whether it was anything special. The location of the dining room with its elevated view across the River Severn was, however, superb.
