Half way up Wyle Cop on the left hand side is a little gem of a food shop called Setonaikai. From the street it looks like a small shop but it extends back quite a way from the road and contains an Aladdin's cave of authentic ingredients from Japan and the Far East. They stock everything unusual and unpronounceable as well as delicious and delectable. Food products from Japan, Thailand, India, China, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Middle East, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan and Pakistan.

I personally make regular trips to stock up on the basic curry and chilli powders (which are much better value than from the supermarkets) as well as essentials for my sushi habit, like mirin, nori, shichimi togarishi and chopsticks. They also sell great Japanese sushi starter kits and beautiful china bowls. And while I have personally always been able to find what I was looking for (and more!), I am reliably informed that they will go out of their way to help you if there is something you cannot find. A great little shop. Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m
